Mazda is doing a special event for the 25th anniversary of the Miata at Laguna Seca. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
I'm so gonna register, but I know it's gonna be a full week trip....in a Miata. The trip is about 10000km going there and going back home included. I don't even know if I wanna bring a friend with me knowing all this. I'm not a traveler neither so I don't know where to go, what to bring, the guidelines and how much money I shall save up. Any insights on this?

save up $3000 so you can stop at a casino on your way and for regular expenses and only bring a toolbox your Miata and the shirt on your back

Just go and don't think about it...
I moved out by car from Seattle to Montreal... Packed my car, gave my keys back and left... middle of december 2007... After 200km I thought, what the fuck am I doing. I was in a mazda 626, with no snow tires (they were also almost flat in the back), overloaded with my stuff and I had not checked anything on it.
I could only drive during day light as the roads were frozen during the night, I arrived in Montreal in the middle of the worst snowstorm in a long time (december 2007, 50cm in 12hours), like this, not knowing the city AT ALL. I threw the car in a parking lot on Peel and tried to find something to do. Two days later, I was on 3 cyclinders and my back tire exploded in a pothole.
So just go for it, it will be fine. Also the whole trip cost me less than 300$ in gas (at the time lol), I did sleep two nights in a hotel room though. Don't forget you can negociate the price of the room if you arrive late and leave early.
Good luck, you'll do alright, just leave and think about what you've done later.
